Official blurb:
In fair Aeroterra where we lay our scene
Two star-crossed terrans flee
On whose flights learn what it is to be free.
Konnor Tendarian, Prince of Seslin–one of the wealthiest kingdoms of Aeroterra–is locked away inside his father’s castle. As he comes of age, it’s harder and harder to hide that he’s a sacra, an inferior type of terran according to his father, and not the heir he was supposed to be.
Prince Daxton Austeareus is living the easy life, free from responsibility despite the raids plaguing their borders. His father tries to reel him in by arranging a marriage to the Seslin prince – a complete stranger to Dax.
Dax and Konnor both run from their homes, and a marriage they’re not ready for. When they cross paths on their journeys, an undeniable, magnetic draw between them derails both of their paths and brings them closer to the fate they tried so hard to avoid.
My rating: four stars out of five
This may be one of the most unique fantasy/steampunk books I have ever read. The characters are gender-less. They use different pronouns and titles, which took some getting used to, but overall, I thought the world was crafted very well. Though some more description of what the Terrans actually looked like would’ve given me a fuller picture.
I’m a sucker for a good love story, and Chasing the Horizon didn’t disappoint! I wanted to devour it in one sitting in order to see if Konnor and Dax ended up together. I won’t give away any spoilers, but there are twists and turns that you won’t see coming.
If you love a good fantasy love story, check this one out!
